I think by now everyone knows that the actual Woodstock festival was in Bethel, in Sullivan County an hour away. It was slated to be in Woodstock, which at the time had a burgeoning music and art scene. Dylan and The Band lived in Woodstock for much of the 70's (Basement Tapes). The Byrdcliff Artist Colony, est. in 1920, is the oldest artist colony in the US. Nowadays, Woodstock is a super eclectic mix of hippies, artists, musicians, madmen, retirees and well, Me.

The original Bread Alone is actually in Boiceville, not too far from Woodstock. When i was little it was just a guy selling bread right out of the bakery, in brown paper bags. Now there are multiple locals with cafe food and dessert. Their bread is on the shelf of every supermarket, yet folks queue up at the Woodstock spot, hoping to experience the loaves less traveled.
